Field Note #5 - 500
At Seresin Estate organic and biodynamic principles underpin our philosophy to create expressions of our land. Principles unique to the biodynamic approach emphasize the use of manures and compost as well as using traditional astrological calendars.
BD500 is made by filling a cow’s horn with cow dung, and burying in the soil during Autumn. Underground the manure develops into dark humus. This is lifted in Spring and stirred in small quantities with water and applied over the land like a dew drop. With regular application BD500 aids to stimulate soil life and acts like digestion.
