Seresin Estate originally imported olive trees from a specialist olive nursery in Tuscany owned by the renowned Attilio Sonnoli. We chose a selection of the classic varieties: Frantoio, Pendolino, Leccino, Minerva & Maurino that make Tuscan extra virgin olive oil amongst the most interesting in the world.
The Seresin Estate Pinot Gris 2016 represents our evolving approach to this complex style. Described by winemaker Clive Dougall as “treading a line of texture and acidity”, this wine has a more notable fruit driven, rose petal character than in previous years, with a cleaner, more linear style.
2017 was a memorable and challenging vintage. We had a wonderful warm start to the growing season, with good soil moisture helping the vines to grow well. We then experienced cold temperatures during flowering, resulting in lower yields and smaller bunches in our Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The temperatures never really soared and we will remember this vintage as having one of the coldest growing seasons, coupled with challenging rain events just before and during harvest.
