Field Note #4. COMPOST
“The worth of the worms”
Creating healthy soils is a key foundation for organic growing. Having a close understanding of what lies beneath helps us enhance and stimulate our soils, so our crops can benefit from a wide range of soil processes. One way we can do this is by creating a hospitable home for earthworms through the addition of compost. Worms aerate and mix our soil profile with their many burrows helping to improve soil structure by creating humus.
